Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans may only be 25 years old and five games into his fifth year in the league, but he has already put his name atop Tampa Bay’s all-time record book.

Evans has now become the Buccaneers’ all-time leader in receiving yards, overtaking Mark Carrier’s previous mark of 5,005 yards.

Evans was the Bucs’ 7th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, and has been one of the most productive wide receivers in the NFL since coming into the league.

He’s topped 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first four seasons. He’s also averaged eight touchdowns per year. Entering the Falcons game, Evans had put up 426 yards on 29 catches with three touchdowns through his first four games this year.

It’s a testament to Evans’ terrific production through his first four-plus years in the league that he’s already set a new all-time Bucs receiving yards record. But it’s also an indictment of the Bucs that in their 43-year history, they haven’t had a top-caliber receiver stick around for more than five years and significantly exceed 5,000 receiving yards.

At the pace he’s going, Evans will absolutely be out of sight with that receiving record. He could conceivably play up to a decade more, and if he plays them all in Tampa Bay, he’ll likely completely shatter every major receiving record they have.
