There has been plenty of speculation regarding the status of Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans heading into the Week 1 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. His recent progress indicates that fans have good reason to be optimistic

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Evans is fully expected to play for the Buccaneers after nursing a hamstring injury:

With Evans listed as day-to-day with the injured hamstring, head coach Bruce Arians already indicated that he would be a game-time decision for Week 1. The uptick in his activity shows that he has managed to make some strides and will be in line to take part in the 2020 NFL season opener.

Reports suggest that Evans does not have any plans to sit out of the NFC South showdown against the New Orleans Saints. After all, he is all too familiar with the challenges of playing through injuries. While Tampa Bay may still want to exercise some caution regarding his workload, it appears the offense will be at full strength barring any significant setbacks.

Tampa Bay has generated plenty of hype with the arrival of quarterback Tom Brady this offseason. Expectations are now higher than ever with the addition of tight end Rob Gronkowski and running back Leonard Fournette to an offense that was already loaded with talent. Regardless, it is safe to assume that Evans will remain as the focal point of Arians' downfield approach.

While he may feel good enough to play, Evans' reps will certainly be something for the Buccaneers to monitor early in the season.
