Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has been fined $21,056 for his hit on Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield in Week 3 on the preseason, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Suh's hit on Mayfield came early in the second quarter of the “dress rehearsal game.” On 3rd and 10, the quarterback scrambled to his right and threw a check-down to running back Kareem Hunt. Suh hit Mayfield after the pass and was subsequently given a Roughing the Passer penalty.

The veteran defensive tackle is no stranger to fines from the league. According to spotrac.com, he's been fined 14 times, including the latest, for a total of $681,448. Included in the fines, per Spotrac:

  • Roughing the Passer
  • Excessive Facemask
  • Stepping on the leg of Aaron Rodgers
  • Throat-slash gesture against Tampa Bay
  • Unnecessary roughness
  • kicking Texans QB Matt Schaub in the groin
  • Stomping on Evan Dietrich-Smith
  • Unsportsmanlike Conduct

Suh is far from a quarterback's best friend. His latest Roughing the Passer fine is the fifth of his carry.

The now ten-year veteran is in his tenth year as a pro. Along the way, he's been to the Pro-Bowl five times and earned three first-team All-Pro nods.

Though known to be a dirty player, Suh says that people should get to know him more before getting a full assessment on him. He said — while as a Ram –, per Oregon Live's Geoffrey C. Arnold:

“I would say to anybody and all the fans, just come up to me as a normal human being and ask me who I am and get to know and have a conversation with me and I believe it's that simple. I don't think you can know any particular person unless you've been in their shoes and been around them 24/7/365 to know exactly who that person is.”

The Bucs are set for a Week 1 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers.
