The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have seen their 2018 season continue to head south after dropping their third game and sixth in the last seven contests after a 16-3 loss to the Washington Redskins in Week 10.

This has put into question quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick's status as the starter moving forward after a disappointing outing. Despite that, head coach Dirk Koetter has voiced on Monday that Fitzpatrick will remain under center for this week's game against the New York Giants, according to Jenna Laine of ESPN.

Bucs coach Dirk Koetter said that they will be sticking with quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick this week.

Fitzpatrick had a huge statistical performance completing 29-of-41 passes for 406 yards, but he had two interceptions and lost a fumble. On top of that, he led the team on just one scoring drive in the contest that came in the second quarter. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers failed to convert all five red zone trips. This was a contest that Tampa Bay could have had a different result had they take care of the ball against a formidable opponent.

Instead, the Buccaneers are now in a difficult position heading into the final seven games of the season in order to keep their playoff chances alive. The team may be floundering south in a hurry, but Fitzpatrick has shown to be the more capable quarterback of the two as he has had more success throwing the ball. He has thrown for more than 400 passing yards in each of the four starts that he has made this season.

This decision to continue to roll with him also shows the team's lack of faith that Jameis Winston can lead them to success. Winston has been wildly inconsistent with his play, throwing 10 interceptions and fumbling twice in just six games played. It is simply another chance for Fitzpatrick to prove that he can be the starter at least through the rest of the season.
