A rare Tom Brady autographed rookie card–with only 100 produced–sold for more than $300,000 in auction.

The card, which is a Tom Brady 2000 Contenders Championship Rookie Ticket, is numbered to 39 and graded a PSA 5. It went live on auction on December 7 at Skinner Auctioneers and finished on December 15, though it went on extended time as interested buyers put on some last-minute bidding spree.

In the end, the rookie card of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers star got sold for 372,500.

As reported earlier, the card was expected to go between $300,000 to $500,000, and sure enough, it met expectations. For what it's worth a similar card (but graded a Mint 9 from Beckett) was sold for over $3.1 million in July this year.

The auction for the Tom Brady rookie card certainly couldn't come at a better time. Just recently, the Buccaneers QB threw his 700th touchdown pass, becoming the only quarterback in NFL history to breach the mark in his career.

Brady has certainly solidified his place in the NFL lore as the greatest QB of all time, and arguably the GOAT player the league has ever seen. His combination of success and longevity is just difficult to match for anyone.

With that said, all memorabilia related to him–particularly those autographed and rare ones like his rookie card–are only expected to increase in value over time.
