Rob Gronkowski may have just dropped another hint on whether he plans to feature for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2022 season.

Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette took to Instagram on Sunday where he posted a tweet of his asking on just how many “7 jerseys” he will see at home games this season. Fournette changed his jersey number to No. 7 in his second campaign with the Buccaneers last year, which he featured during his run at LSU.

Gronkowski commented on Fournette’s post, noting that he will “represent a 7 jersey” for him, which prompted the veteran running back to call for the future Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end to come back for the upcoming season.

Gronkowski still has yet to provide a definitive answer on whether he plans to suit up for Tampa Bay in the 2022 season. There was much speculation that when Tom Brady put an end to his 40-day retirement, Gronkowski would then follow suit as well, but this has not been the case so far.

Gronkowski has at the least noted that if he does decide to play in the 2022 campaign, it would only be for the reigning NFC South champions.

Overall, the Buccaneers do have multiple options to roll out at tight end in the case that Gronkowski opts to retire in the coming months. As it stands, Cameron Brate is slated to be their starter at the tight end position, while rookies Cade Otton and Ko Kieft could have a chance to also receive crucial snaps over the season.

A key 2022 campaign sure awaits Brady and the Buccaneers later this year.
