The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had an exciting offseason that included acquiring newly un-retired tight end Rob Gronkowski.

So far, the superstar has not produced much on the field, however. Through two games Gronkowski has just two receptions for 11 yards on four targets. According to Greg Auman of The Athletic, the Buccaneers tight end has addressed this “slow start.”

It appears he knew what his role would be. To be fair, it sort of makes sense that Gronkowski is not serving the biggest role at the moment. The tight end did not play in 2019 because he had retired. That retirement included him losing a lot of weight. When he decided to return, Gronkowski put a lot of that weight back on. But it is safe to assume that he is not 100 percent where he wants to be.

With that in mind, it makes sense that an offense as loaded as the Buccaneers' is not leaning on him at the moment. Right now, it sounds like Gronkowski is perfectly fine with it. He knows what he signed up for and is enjoying the situation.

This is also someone widely regarded as one of the greatest tight ends of all time, though, who's still only 31 years young.

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. For the time being though, the tight end appears to be happy. His team won their last game and they are expected to be legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

If the Buccaneers win Gronkowski another ring, it is hard to imagine he will be too upset with whatever role he was in. It must be nice for them to know though, if they ever need to rely on him heavier—the resume speaks for itself.
