Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski opened his account for his new team on Sunday, as the 31-year-old scored his first touchdown for Tampa Bay. As much as Gronk's first TD out of retirement has been the stuff of headlines on Monday, the same has been the case for his rather lackluster celebratory spike.

After the game, Gronkowski offered a bit of an explanation as to his uncharacteristic post-TD spike:

“The spike was not monstrous,” Gronkowski said, via Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports. “It was a lefty. The right arm is a little sore so I had to do a lefty spike. Just overall, I'm just glad I got a spike.”

Gronk hasn't exactly been in prime game shape thus far, but he's been trending up over the past few games for the Bucs. On Sunday, however, the five-time Pro Bowler looked like his old self, catching 5-of-8 targets for 78 yards and a score.

Gronkowski was not the only one that turned back the clock, with Buccaneers superstar quarterback Tom Brady likewise having a fine performance for Tampa Bay. The 43-year-old completed 17-of-27 passes for 166 yards, while also passing on two touchdowns, as he led his team to a 38-10 pummeling of the Green Bay Packers.

The Brady-Gronk connection is a far cry from the partnership that once terrorized the league, but they appear to be slowly shaping up to be a formidable force yet again. They've helped the Bucs to get back to winning ways following Week 5's loss against the Chicago Bears.

Tampa Bay is currently 4-2 to start the season, and are set to face off against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7.
