Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski had already retired as one of the most decorated players at his position. However, it appears he could be set to add yet another honor to the trophy case in his return to the league.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, Gronkowski has been pegged as the favorite to win Comeback Player of the Year for the 2020 NFL season:

Rob Gronkowski +300
Ben Roethlisberger +400
Alex Smith +700
Matthew Stafford +700
J.J. Watt +700
Derwin James +1200
A.J. Green +1400

The prospect of Gronkowski taking the league by storm once again is certainly not too far-fetched. The year off from football gave him some much-needed rest after injuries factored into his initial retirement. Of course, the fact that he will be returning alongside Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady only helps to solidify this notion.

The Buccaneers have generated plenty of hype with the arrival of the former New England Patriots duo. They have now helped form one of the most high-powered offenses on paper, also boasting the league’s best receiver tandem on the outside with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

Although there are certainly no shortage of weapons for Brady to work with in Tampa Bay, it is safe to assume he will be relying heavily on Gronkowski as his safety net in the passing game.

Checking in behind Gronkowski in the odds is a trio of veteran quarterbacks that could also be poised for a potential resurgence in the 2020 campaign. Meanwhile, Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt and Los Angeles Chargers safe Derwin James have emerged as the only two betting favorites for the award on  the defensive side of the ball.
