Well, it's official. Rob Gronkowski will not be reuniting with Tom Brady on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022.
The star tight end announced on Tuesday that he will officially retire from the NFL at 33 years old. Per ESPN's Jordan Schultz:
Breaking: Rob Gronkowski tells me he’s retiring.
The future first ballot Hall of Famer won four Super Bowls while earning a spot on the NFL’s 100th Anniversary Team and 2010s All-Decade Team.
An all-time great officially hangs em up at 33 years old.

The Buccaneers will be disappointed to hear this, but Gronk was battling far too many injuries to return for another year. Remember, he already retired then came back and played once, too. He hangs them up as a four-time Super Bowl winner and a surefire future Hall of Famer, playing eight seasons with the New England Patriots and another two with Tampa, winning a ring with TB12 in 2020.

Gronkowski poured his heart out in the caption, revealing that he always wanted to play for the Buccaneers, even when he was in college. Gronk got that wish and was able to win it all with the franchise. It's a shame we won't see Gronk catching passes from Brady anymore, but that's the reality of the situation.
But hey, who knows, maybe he'll come out of retirement again? It feels unlikely this time around, though.
