Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Ronald Jones is chomping at the bit to get back on the gridiron.

Ronald Jones said he is excited to take the next step in his career after having an offseason to zero in and get more focused (via Greg Auman of The Athletic):

“I’m even more excited to be back,” Jones said. “I’m feeling even better, having last year to come off of, so I feel like I’m in great position, even better and more mentally focused than I was a year ago.”

Most of the buzz surrounding the Bucs continues to revolve around the offseason addition of Tom Brady. However, Ronald Jones is likely to play a vital role in Tampa Bay's offense.

The 22-year-old established himself as the feature back in 2019, rushing for 724 yards and six touchdowns on a respectable 4.2 yards per carry while also hauling in 31 receptions for 309 yards.

Brady has always valued having a running back who can make themselves available out of the backfield. James White thrived as a receiving back in New England, and it is not hard to envision something similar for Ronald Jones.

It is also possible Bruce Arians and Co. look to open up the passing game even more in 2020, given the weapons the Bucs have at the skill positions. This could open up the running game, so long as the Bucs consistently win battles in the trenches.

Ronald Jones was only on the field for 36 percent of the offensive snaps last season, per Pro Football Reference. But after an offseason of reflection and added focus, it is possible the third-year back is ready to break out in 2020.
