Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Ronde Barber is absolutely ecstatic about Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski reuniting in South Florida. Barber said the Bucs not only have national appeal but also believes the addition of Brady and “Gronk” can help power the Bucs to the Super Bowl, via TMZ.
“You don't sign Tom Brady to a team that has this much talent … without the expectation that you wanna win a Super Bowl,” Barber says. “They have talent on this football team. And, an emerging defense. I would say the expectation is to win this year.”
Barber–who played for the Bucs for the entirety of his 16-year career–also makes a good point by suggesting these moves will attract a national spotlight.
Major cable networks are likely to prioritize getting their share of Bucs games given the additions of Brady and Gronkowski, which itself could change the landscape of football in Tampa Bay. Still, Bucs fans are hoping the hype is real.
Tampa Bay has not made the playoffs since 2007, but it might be Super Bowl or bust for the Bucs in 2020.
