Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul will likely miss the entire upcoming 2019-20 campaign due to injury. However, Pierre-Paul has once again found himself in the midst of quite the odd off-the-field controversy as he injured his neck in a recent one-car crash.

As a result, the Buccaneers have since released an official statement regarding the matter. While the team has no comment, Tampa Bay did muster up a few words as the franchise's medical staff has yet to formally evaluate the former New York Giants standout, so it appears.

“As we stated last week following the news of Jason’s auto accident, our immediate concern was for both Jason and his passenger,” said Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht, via the team's official website. “While Jason was treated and released in south Florida the same day of the accident, we wanted to ensure that our medical team had an opportunity to perform a thorough evaluation here in Tampa, and that process is currently ongoing.”

Of course, Pierre-Paul infamously missed an extended period of time during his final years with the aforementioned Giants after injuring his hand and fingers as the result of a fireworks-related mishap. While losing several fingers during the fireworks accident, Pierre-Paul has never really been the same ever since while ultimately making his way from the Giants to the Buccaneers via trade.

While it seems as though the veteran pass rusher will miss the entire 2019-20 campaign, it also remains to be seen as to whether or not his days as a member of the Buccaneers are numbered at this point in his career.
