The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have plenty of work to do on offense amidst all the changes that were made this offseason. Regardless, they are doing what they can to ensure a familiar face in running back Ronald Jones is a part of it.

Jones is coming off a disastrous rookie year that saw him finish the 2018 campaign with a mere 23 carries for 44 yards and a touchdown. According to Albert Breer of the MMQB, the Bucs feel confidence will be key in his potential resurgence in the 2019 NFL season:

The staff has worked hard to restore RB Ronald Jones' confidence, and RBs coach Todd McNair — out of football since 2010 — has been key there. Jones has had a good camp as a result. The feeling is last year, once Jones lost his confidence, the whole season got away from him.

As a second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Jones was expected to become an immediate contributor in the Bucs offense. Unfortunately, he was never truly able to find his footing as a rookie and was ultimately relegated to a limited role on offense. Regardless, Tampa Bay still has plenty of hope that he can turn things around this season.

Jones has solidified that notion with a much stronger outing in training camp this time around. Although he is currently listed as the No. 2 running back behind Peyton Barber, there has been plenty of talk about the competition brewing between them heading into the regular season. It will be interesting to see if the second-year back is consistent enough to etch out a role for himself this year.
