Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans' status has been one of the biggest storylines ahead of the Week 17 game against the New York Jets. First, Evans missed last week's game due to a hamstring injury. Then, the Buccaneers star was placed on the reserve/COVID list. Fortunately, the Buccaneers got some good news on Evans' status, though it comes with a catch.

Per Carmen Vitali of Buccaneers.com, Mike Evans has been activated off of the reserve/COVID list. While that is good news for Tampa Bay ahead of Week 17 against the Jets, Evans still isn't a lock to suit up.

Evans is still dealing with the hamstring injury, which has his status for Sunday in question. The Buccaneers star was at the practice facility on Thursday catching passes, so what he is able to do at Friday's practice, if anything, will determine his designation for the Jets game.

It's seeming like the Buccaneers will be without Evans in Week 17, though it doesn't sound like the star wideout is too far away from game action.

With fellow wideout Chris Godwin out for the rest of the year, Tampa Bay will need star wideout Antonio Brown now more than ever, as well as Cyril Grayson, who had 81 yards receiving last week.

Buccaneers fans got some good news on the status of Mike Evans, though he's not out of the woods yet. Stay tuned.
