The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are not going to be adding more high-profile wide receivers.

The Buccaneers made the biggest splash of free agency by signing Tom Brady. Despite being 42 years of age, Brady was easily the biggest name on the market. With that being said, Tampa Bay is not focusing on improving the wide receiver position. In fact, general manager Jason Licht went so far to say that the team is focusing on other areas.

Via Josh Alper of NBC Sports:

“If they do add one, it may not be until the draft. General Manager Jason Licht said on ESPN on Monday that the Bucs are “focused on other areas” as they move forward this offseason.”

When you take a look at Tampa Bay's depth chart, it's clear that the Buccaneers have one of the best one-two punches at wide receiver. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are one of the best duos in the NFL. In fact, Evans and Godwin each had over 1,000 receiving yards in 2019. They also combined for 163 receptions and 17 touchdowns. Keep in mind, that was with Jameis Winston under center.

However, the Buccaneers are lacking in experience and skill after Evans and Godwin. Their slot receiver from 2019, Breshad Perriman, left for the New York Jets. The holdovers, Justin Watson and Scott Miller, combined for just 28 catches last year. Furthermore, neither are any older than 23 years of age.

Tampa Bay also ruled out the possibility of signing Antonio Brown earlier in the week. In fact, head coach Bruce Arians flat out said, “it's not going to happen.” This is despite reports that Brady would actually like a reunion to happen with the former Pro Bowl wide receiver.

Things always fluctuate in the NFL, but it's clear that the Buccaneers are going to stand pat with their wide receiver group heading into 2020.
