The NFL has informed teams that sequestering players voluntarily in hotels is allowed during training camps. While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers begin training camp, Bruce Arians told Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times that the team is preparing a ‘voluntary' bubble to ensure the safety of their team.

Recently, Sean Payton of the New Orleans Saints secured a hotel for his team to voluntarily stay at during training camp. The veteran head coach of the Saints did so hoping that New Orleans could create a de facto bubble before Week 1. Also, seeing that Payton had COVID-19 earlier this offseason, he realizes the effects it can have on his players or coaching staff.

Now, with Payton laying the groundwork, Arians is attempting to do the same for the Buccaneers. However, it remains to be seen if Tom Brady buys into the idea of joining his team in the proverbial bubble. Despite the advice of the NFLPA, Brady continually held private workouts with teammates this offseason.

If Brady doesn't stay at the hotel, it may be less likely for his teammates to utilize the bubble. Therefore, Arians may nudge Brady to take part in the bubble to incentivize players to use the hotel.

Rick Spielman, the GM of the Minnesota Vikings, pointed out that a bubble for the entire NFL isn't going to happen. While it would create a safer environment, the NFL and NFLPA agreed that they wouldn't force players to remain in hotels. With that being said, teams can manufacture a mini-bubble for training camp just the Buccaneers.
