It looks like Jameis Winston will be back under center for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020 after all.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Buccaneers are expected to bring Winston back for next season, a move that would come as a surprise to some.

Rapoport notes that Winston's play during Tampa Bay's recent four-game winning streak essentially sealed his roster spot for the 2020 campaign.

While turnovers have still been a problem for Winston (he has thrown six interceptions during the Bucs' recent surge), he has thrown for over 400 yards twice while also racking up 11 touchdown passes.

On the season overall, Winston has thrown for 4,573 yards, 30 touchdowns and an NFL-worst 24 picks while completing 61.7 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 87.9.

The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Florida State, was originally selected by the Buccaneers with the first overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He was instantly named Tampa Bay's starter during his rookie campaign, finishing with 4,042 yards, 22 touchdowns and 15 interceptions while completing 58.3 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 84.2. Winston made the Pro Bowl as a result.

The Bessemer, Al. native then showed improvement during his second season, throwing for 4,090 yards, 28 touchdowns and 18 picks while completing 60.8 percent of his passes and recording a passer rating of 86.1.

However, in 2017 and 2018, Winston played in just 24 of a possible 32 games due to injuries and poor performance across the board. He was even briefly benched last season.

The Buccaneers are 7-7 on the year and will take on the Houston Texans on Saturday.
