As was the case plenty of times in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Super Bowl-winning run last season, wideout Mike Evans once again had himself a standout playoff performance.

As the Buccaneers’ wide receiver depth has been decimated over the past month, quarterback Tom Brady called upon Evans quite a bit in the NFC wild-card encounter with the Philadelphia Eagles. Brady targeted Evans 10 times in the contest, and the veteran wideout came away with nine receptions for 117 receiving yards and one touchdown.

The nine receptions for Evans set a new single-game Buccaneers playoff record, which sure helps his case to be the most prolific wide receiver to ever feature for Tampa Bay.

Even as his teammates have lauded him for his potent showing against the Eagles, Evans sees that this performance was essentially just another game in his career.

“I did decent,” Evans said in his post-game press conference.

Brady also saw several other offensive talents elevate their overall play against the Eagles. For one, Giovani Bernard tallied for 83 yards from scrimmage, as the Eagles front seven had quite a difficult time in attempting to contain the versatile running back.

As noted, the Buccaneers offense has seen plenty of turnaround over the campaign. Thus, Brady sure will need Evans to remain as his most reliable target for the rest of the playoffs if they aspire to pull off another run to the Super Bowl.
