The Tampa Bay Buccaneers retained their strong backfield unit with both Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones II staying at the helm for yet another season. However, Bucs head coach Bruce Arians claimed that he is excited for an incoming sophomore in running back Ke'Shawn Vaughn who is looking to carve a bigger role for himself upon entering his second season in the league.

“That all can be defined through practice and OTAs and training camp and preseason,” Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians said, via PewterReport.com. “Those guys are all here and know what the system is and the best players are going to play. Obviously we have two really, really good ones at that position and I really like Ke’Shawn Vaughn. I think that with an offseason he’s going to have a breakout year also. All of those roles will be defined by the time that we get to the last week of the preseason.”

A former Vanderbilt talent, Vaughn was previously picked by the Buccaneers with the 76th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Due to the team's stacked roster, he eventually failed to see significant action in his rookie campaign with the presence of both Fournette and Jones.

However, he still made the most out of his opportunities as he racked up a total of 109 rushing yards on 26 attempts through 10 games played. Vaughn also showed his abilities to catch the ball as he notched 34 receiving yards on five touches and a scored touchdown for the Bucs.

Despite his meager output, Vaughn managed to give a glimpse of his potential to be a capable running back in the league although he could've done more if he saw more action on the field. With a year of experience under his belt, the 23-year-old is looking to compete for a more significant role and have a bigger impact on the Buccaneers' title retention bid in the 2021 NFL season.
