Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady's father, Tom Brady Sr., cracked a joke regarding the job security of New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick after the NFC Championship Game this past weekend.

Via the Boston Herald:

“I’m guessing he’s on a little bit of a hot seat right now,” Brady Sr. joked.

Tom Brady left the Patriots last offseason after a 20-year stint and packed his bags to join the Buccaneers. Seeing how the partnership ended, many talking heads speculated whether the success of the Patriots was dependent on Brady's playmaking or Belichick's coaching. Many even tagged Brady as a “system quarterback” and claimed he couldn't achieve similar success with another team, especially at this stage of his career.

Brady managed to prove them wrong by leading a previously mediocre Bucs squad to a huge turnaround in the 2020 NFL season, and now he's going to the Super Bowl in his first year away from New England.

The 31-26 NFC Championship Game victory over the Green Bay Packers didn't come easy, but the coaching errors of Packers head tactician Matt LaFleur certainly helped the Buccaneers' cause of winning the all-important game. Brady Sr. noted those coaching errors when talking about the separation between Tom Brady and Bill Belichick:

“They had a great 20-year run, as good a run as anybody has ever had. Without disparaging Bill in any way, I just think it was time,” said Brady Sr. “That doesn’t minimize what Bill did. As we saw (Sunday), the coaches can screw up the game.”

After getting past Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, the three-time NFL MVP will face another tall task when the Buccaneers match up against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Capturing the Super Bowl LV title on their home turf would definitely solidify Tom Brady's case as the GOAT.
