Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin's status was up for grabs this week after missing Monday's game against the New York Giants.

However, Bucs head coach Bruce Arians said Friday the Pro Bowl wideout–still recovering from a fractured index finger–will play on Sunday night against the New Orleans Saints.

Chris Godwin got reps for the first time this week on Friday, and it apparently went well enough for him to be “Active” heading into Sunday.

The 2020 season has been full of issues for Godwin.

The 24-year-old began the year on a high note with six catches for 79 yards in Tampa Bay's first matchup with the Saints in Week 1. After missing Week 2 due to injury, the Buccaneers WR returned and scored a touchdown in Week 3.

But injuries have continued to hamper the former third-round pick. He missed the next two games with a hamstring injury. Godwin would return in a Week 6 win over the Green Bay Packers, but he was still somewhat limited.

Week 7 looked like a potential turning point. Godwin caught all nine of his targets for 88 yards and a score in a win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Of course, he also sustained the aforementioned injury to the index finger, which required surgery.

The Buccaneers will hope Chris Godwin has finally gotten over the hump as they enter the second half. Tom Brady and the offense have seemed to find a rhythm in the past few weeks, and Godwin's presence only serves to add to the unit's explosiveness.

Tampa Bay will hope to avenge its Week 1 loss to the Saints on Sunday night.
