Tom Brady of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has fired the first shot. Again. Peyton Manning was, of course, the recipient.

The six-time Super Bowl champion continued the war of words directed at his longtime rival ahead of “The Match: Champions for Charity.”

In an interview with Bleacher Report, Tom Brady was asked about what his expectations are for the highly-anticipated matchup between the two NFL legends.

“Not a lot of words of encouragement out there. You know, I think if he makes the putt, I’m just worried about them pumping crowd noise in there if he starts making putts like they used to, you know, at the RCA Dome. So, you know, I think I’m ready to deal with kinda anything that comes up with.”

Tom Brady was, of course, referring to the 2007 AFC Championship Game wherein Manning’s Colts was able to overcome a 21-3 second-quarter deficit to end the Patriots’ campaign. New England later accused Indianapolis of pumping crowd noise at the dome, but the Colts were cleared by the NFL for any wrongdoing. As it turned out, it was CBS taking responsibility for the incident.

For what it’s worth, Tom Brady has a 3-2 all-time record (including playoffs) at the RCA Dome.

On a serious note, the Buccaneers’ new man under center stated that he and Manning will prepare just as intently on the fairway.

“I think there’s a degree of mental toughness that comes into this. He’ll make his fair share of shots. There’s no doubt about that.”

Capital One’s The Match, between Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, will take place on May 24 at 3:00 p.m. ET to be simulcast on TNT, TBS, truTV, and HLN. Proceeds of the event will go to the COVID-19 relief efforts.
