When Tom Brady inked a two-year deal with the Tambay Bay Buccaneers this offseason, the whole football world was shocked. This included Peyton Manning, but for a whole different reason.

Manning revealed that he had been talking to Brady prior to his Buccaneers move, but their conversations never really drifted towards Brady's decision. What surprised Manning about the move was that the former New England Patriots star would have to make the tough transition from the AFC to the NFC — regarded as the stronger division between the two.

“That was interesting,” Manning said Sunday on SportsCenter, as transcribed by Greg Joyce of the New York Post. “I’ve talked to Tom at different times, but never really about that actual decision. He seems happy, he seems excited. I’m a little surprised he jumped over to the NFC. I always see Tom Brady as an AFC guy, so he’s going to have to go through initiation to learn the ropes of the NFC.”

In particular, Manning pointed out the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons and the Carolina Panthers as the teams that would give the Bucaneers plenty of trouble.

“He’s got a tough division,” Manning added. “I don’t think the Saints and the Falcons and the Panthers are going to just let the Bucs kind of roll into town, so it should make for some interesting divisional games and matchups.”

Only time will tell if Brady's stint with the Buccaneers will turn out to be a part of his great legacy or a piece of memory meant to be forgotten. Be as it may, Tom Brady should take Peyton Manning's advice to heart.
