With Dirk Koetter likely on his way out as Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach, the Buccaneers are beginning their search for the next man to lead their team, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

Right now, the Bucs' job is not a very enviable one.

To put it plainly, Tampa Bay is in shambles, as quarterback Jameis Winston was not the franchise piece the team originally thought he was when it drafted him, and the Buccaneers have not made the playoffs in over a decade in general.

As a matter of fact, the last time Tampa Bay made the postseason was in the 2007-08 campaign, when it lost to a New York Giants team that went on to upset the undefeated New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.

So, yeah. It was a while ago.

Since then, the Buccaneers have only put together three winning seasons, with their best year coming in 2010 when they won 10 games under Raheem Morris.

Tampa Bay looked to be on the right track in 2016 when it went 9-7, but the Bucs then registered just five wins last year and are currently 5-8 entering Sunday's action.

Of course, it is still an NFL head-coaching job, so there will be a long list of candidates, but there aren't many franchises that seem to be in worse shape than the Buccaneers at the moment.

As for Koetter? He is likely to draw some interest as a coordinator.

While his three-year stint as head coach has not worked out, Koetter did have a prior track record, serving as the offensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2007 through 2011 and then the Atlanta Falcons from 2012 through 2014.
