The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made history on Sunday after winning Super Bowl 55 with one of the most diverse coaching staff to ever call the shots in league history. The NFC Champs were able to overcome adversity and topple the Kansas City Chiefs to claim the team's second Super Bowl title in franchise history.

They did it with quite the cast of characters, too.

Per ESPN:

Tampa Bay's offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich, defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, special-teams coordinator Keith Armstrong and run-game coordinator/assistant head coach Harold Goodwin are all Black. The Buccaneers are the only team in the NFL with all Black coordinators.

According to Bruce Arians, it was his objective to get these people on board ahead of the 2020 season. He stated that his experience in the league pushed him to build quite a unique coaching roster on the Buccaneers.

“I think probably because I didn't get a shot until I was 60, and Chuck Pagano had to get sick with leukemia for me to even become a head coach,” Bruce Arians explained, via ESPN. “I was a winning Super Bowl offensive coordinator and didn't even get a phone call. So the lack of opportunity I think has made me want to give more opportunities to more people.”

In addition, Tampa Bay was also the first NFL franchise to hire two female coaches in their team with assistant defensive line coach Lori Locust and assistant strength and conditioning coach/PT Maral Javadifar.

What a year for the Buccaneers.
