The sports world received some shocking news this past weekend when former Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Commanders quarterback Dwayne Haskins suffered a tragic death. Haskins was attempting to cross a highway when he was struck by a dump truck in South Florida. Haskins' alma mater, the Ohio State Buckeyes, revealed plans to honor the late quarterback, as reported by ESPN.

Ohio State will honor former quarterback Dwayne Haskins at Saturday's spring game, as the football program grieves the loss of a record-setting player who coach Ryan Day said brought compassion and excellence to the locker room. Day said plans to honor Haskins, both at Saturday's spring game and in the future, are still being finalized and will be announced later.

Coach Ryan Day announced the university's plan to honor Haskins at the Buckeyes' spring game following his death. The 24-year-old not only brought “compassion and excellence” to Ohio State, but he was also a standout player on the field.

The former Steelers and Commanders' signal-caller threw for 4,831 yards with a whopping 50 touchdown passes and eight interceptions during his sophomore season with the Buckeyes.

As Day said, Haskins entered the Buckeyes' facility at a young age, expressing a desire to one day play at the university, a lofty goal which he achieved.

Haskins set a goal and accomplished it, wowing the college football world in the process during his time at Ohio State. It's a legacy that will get the recognition it deserves.
