This year’s free agent pool may slowly be drying up, but some coveted players are still left unsigned. One of them is Derrick Rose, who has yet to come to terms with a team that is looking to add his services.

The former MVP has received a decent amount of interest from some teams around the league, including the L.A. Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks, but so far nothing has materialized yet, and he remains a free agent. However, he might be closer to signing with the Bucks as he is scheduled to have a second meeting with them this coming weekend, according to Chris Haynes of ESPN.

“Representatives for free-agent point guard Derrick Rose and officials from the Milwaukee Bucks are in discussions to schedule a meeting as early as this weekend, league sources told ESPN.”

“Once a date is finalized, the meeting is expected to occur in Los Angeles, sources said.”

It can be recalled that both sides already met last month, but a possible deal did not materialize and Rose met with other teams afterwards. Although it’s not appearing likely to happen at this point, the New York Knicks are still in the running to re-sign him, as they want a veteran point guard on their roster, who Frank Ntilikina can learn a lot from.

Should Rose ultimately end up in Milwaukee though, the team is expected to shed some salaries in order to stay below the luxury tax line, giving them flexibility in future summers. The 28-year-old Chicago native may agree on a short term deal, and become a free agent again in the future, which will work out well for him if he plays solid basketball, and also prove that he can remain healthy throughout the course of next season.
