Milwaukee Bucks center Brook Lopez disagrees with Paul Pierce that the second round series is over against the Boston Celtics.
After the Celtics blew out the Bucks in Game 1 on Sunday, Pierce said he thinks the series is over on ESPN NBA Countdown.
The Celtics won Game 1 by a final score of 112-90 to take home-court advantage away from the Bucks, who are the No. 1 seed in the playoffs
Bucks C Brook Lopez, once teammate of Paul Pierce, wasn't irked by Pierce's TV reax after MIL-BOS G1 that the series is "over."
Said Lopez: "Paul is creative. Obviously he's a Celtic at heart. So I understand where it's coming from. But I respectfully disagree with The Truth."— Steve Aschburner (@AschNBA) April 29, 2019
The Celtics thoroughly dominated the Bucks in Game 1. Milwaukee superstar swingman Giannis Antetokounmpo struggled, as The Greek Freak shot just 7-of-21 from the field in 34 minutes.
Only three players on the Bucks scored in double-figures: Antetokounmpo, swingman Khris Middleton and stretch forward Nikola Mirotic. The Bucks shot 34.8 percent from the floor as a team. The Celtics, meanwhile, shot an efficient 54.0 percent.
If Milwaukee loses Game 2, then the series is over. They would be down 0-2 going into Boston for Games 3 and 4.
Pierce was a little premature with his comment. We have to see how the Bucks are going to respond in Game 2 before we can come out and say they have no chance to come back in this series.
Game 2 of this series is on Tuesday. Lopez and the rest of his teammates have to come out aggressive from the start and send a message to the Celtics that they're not going to fold over.
