Brook Lopez will re-sign with the Milwaukee Bucks, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The reported deal is worth $52 million over four years.

Lopez first signed with the Bucks this time last year, in the summer of 2018. He immediately became a contributor to the contending Milwaukee squad that utilized Lopez differently for the first time in his career — he became a “stretch 5” and helped the Bucks from long range (shooting 6.3 three-point attempts during the 2018-19 season).

Lopez, 31, was an All-Star for one year with the Brooklyn Nets, the team (then New Jersey Nets) that drafted the Stanford University product 10th overall in the 2008 NBA Draft.

For a while, it was uncertain whether the Bucks would be able to re-sign Lopez due to other obligations to impending free agents Khris Middleton and Malcolm Brogdon.

Middleton, a first-time All-Star this season with Milwaukee, will likely receive a max contract offer from the Bucks.

Brogdon, a restricted free agent and former Rookie of the Year, is heading towards signing an offer sheet elsewhere, likely, but Milwaukee is assuredly going to keep the efficient shooter.

The Bucks have also tried to shed power forward Ersan Ilyasova and his contract worth $14 million over the next two years. The Eastern Conference Finalists are trying to create more cap room to bring back key contributors and help reigning league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo get over the hump.

Lopez averaged 12.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game in 81 appearances for Milwaukee last year. He shot 45.2 percent from the floor, 36.5 percent from deep and 84.2 percent from the free throw line.
