The Milwaukee Bucks are hoping to win back to back NBA Championships. After struggling early this season, the team has hit their stride lately. They are 25-15 and sit 3rd in the Eastern Conference. They are only 2.5 games behind the Chicago Bulls for the top spot in the conference. Superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo was playing at an MVP level once again, until he was placed into the league's health and safety protocols.

The team was dealt a big blow on opening night, as Bucks starting center Brook Lopez sustained a back injury. That left the team a bit short-handed in the front court. Milwaukee had acquired the services of former NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins during the offseason.

Last month, it was announced that Lopez had successful back surgery. But there is yet to be a timetable revealed for his return. That made Wednesday's announcement that much more surprising.

According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, the Milwaukee Bucks are planning to waive DeMarcus Cousins.

The team is reportedly looking for roster flexibility. However, there is expected to be a lot of interest in Cousins in free agency.

Cousins dominant years are far behind him, but he was still serviceable with Milwaukee. He averaged just under nine points and six rebounds per game, in only 16 minutes. Cousins was on his 6th team in the last 6 years, after spending the first seven years of his pro career dominating with the Sacramento Kings.

He wound up playing for the New Orleans Pelicans, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers before signing with the Bucks.
