The Milwaukee Bucks are looking to build a roster that convinces Giannis Antetokounmpo to remain with the team and they added another piece on Saturday.

With a need at the backup point-guard position, the Bucks have agreed to a three-year deal with D.J. Augustin, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

To kick off the offseason, the Bucks were able to complete a trade for Jrue Holiday, sending George Hill to the New Orleans Pelicans. Hill served as Milwaukee's backup point guard last season, leading the NBA in 3-point shooting, making 46 percent of his attempts.

With Hill headed to New Orleans—though he's now been traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder—the Bucks had a void at point guard. But it didn't take them long to find his replacement after inking a three-year contract with Augustin.

Throughout his career, Augustin has found his calling as a consistent backup option at the point guard position. In the past four seasons, Augustin has been a formidable bench player for the Orlando Magic.

Altogether, in the past four seasons, he's averaged 10.1 points and 4.1 assists off of the bench. He's also continued to be a consistent outside shooter, knocking down 38.8 percent of his 3-point attempts since 2017.

The main focus for the Bucks is to give Giannis a roster that can help him lead Milwaukee to the NBA Finals. At the same time, the Bucks need to conduct moves that can convince him to stay with the organization. While Augustin may not tip the needle much, it's a solid move for Milwaukee.
