The Milwaukee Bucks are locking up Thon Maker and D.J. Wilson prior to the deadline for picking up options on rookie-scale contracts according to Matt Velazquez of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal. Maker and Wilson are low-cost options for the Bucks and their rookie scale options give the Bucks young talent at an affordable price.

Wilson is still working his way back from a hamstring injury. He has yet to play for Milwaukee this year.

Maker, on the other hand, turned in a solid performance against the Toronto Raptors on Monday. The 21-year-old scored 11 points while corralling seven rebounds. He did so efficiently, only taking seven shots.

Maker has the inside track on a consistent spot in the rotation relative to Wilson's prospects, but both are looking to secure consistent minutes this season. The Bucks are starting their season off on a seven-game winning streak and they look like they could be trouble for the rest of the Eastern Conference.

The Raptors, Celtics, and 76ers were the de facto “big three” in the East when the season began, but Milwaukee and Giannis Antetokounmpo appear to have something to say about that. It should be interesting to see how Mike Budenholzer's rotations and lineups change over time.

Milwaukee clearly has enough belief in Maker and Wilson to bring them back next season. We will see if they find their way into bigger roles this season. If nothing else, they are solid options to have on the bench in case of injuries.
