There have been no shortage of iconic moments in these NBA Finals. The Milwaukee Bucks just got one from Giannis Antetokounmpo in Game 4, after his otherworldly block on Phoenix Suns' Deandre Ayton.

That play was immensely important, with the stakes as high as you could get for the Bucks fighting for their lives in the NBA Finals. But he arguably topped that in Game 5 with an alley-oop that will certainly live forever.

The Greek Freak capped off a spectacular play with a bucket plus the foul. But given the time and score, some questioned whether it was a wise decision. After all, the Bucks had the ball and the lead with the shot clock turned off.

Giannis addressed this when asked by a reporter during the postgame presser. The Bucks star admitted that he was the one who called Jrue to lob it up to him, and his explanation was transparent to say the least:

Reporter: “You mentioned Jrue trusting you on that lob play on the last sequence. Why did you want the lob there? How come you didn't want him to run out the clock?”

Giannis: “Exactly. I don't know,” the Bucks star admitted candidly while drawing laughs across the room. “I was so in the moment. I wasn't worrying about the clock. I wasn't worrying about the crowd. I wasn't worrying about nothing. I had the open lane, throw it up, and he trusted me.”

“If you put it all down … you pull it back out, give the ball to Khris. Let's run a high pick and roll and they probably foul and he goes to the free throw line.”

That was certainly a boom or bust play for the Bucks there. The pass from Holiday could have easily gone awry and the Suns could have the ball with a chance to win the game. But the risk was worth it in the end, as Giannis drew not just the bucket plus the foul, but also the game-sealing rebound that won them Game 5. The risk paid off in the end.
