Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks received a rather shocking news update ahead of Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Phoenix Suns, with Thanasis Antetokounmpo being listed as out.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Giannis' brother entered the health and safety protocols, which effectively sidelined him for the crucial showdown in Arizona.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo is barely playing for the Bucks in the NBA Finals, having only appeared once in Game 3. He played under two minutes in that game.

While his absence is not expected to impact the Bucks in any major way, it's still saddening news for Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is really looking forward to winning the title with his brother.

It is still unknown how long Thanasis will have to be in the health and safety protocols, but it's possible he might also miss out the next outing.

Hopefully, though, his brother's absence will motivate Giannis even more as the Bucks try to win their first NBA title since 1971. Of course, it's not as if The Greek Freak needs any more motivation, especially after going this far for the first time in his career.

Whoever wins Game 5 on Saturday will have a crucial 3-2 advantage heading into Game 6 in Milwaukee. Sure enough, the Bucks will want to take the W and close the season at home to celebrate with fans.
