Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo just won his first NBA title in 2021 and is having himself quite a summer. Now he seems to have his eyes set on another top prize. That would be winning the gold medal at EuroBasket 2022.

The Greek Freak hinted at his participation in the event on Twitter:

Giannis Antetokounmpo seems to be fired up about this, so it's a good sign that he plans to play if all goes well.

EuroBasket used to happen every two years, but the tournament hasn't taken place since 2017. 2019 was a FIBA Basketball World Cup year, and then 2021 became an Olympic year due to COVID-19. So, we get EuroBasket 2022.

At EuroBasket 2017, Goran Dragic and Luka Doncic led Slovenia to the gold medal over Serbia. Dragic was the MVP of the tournament and was one of the leading scorers throughout. The veteran guard put up 35 points, seven rebounds and three assists in the win over Serbia.

Greece made it to the quarterfinals of EuroBasket 2017 before losing to Russia. Giannis Antetokounmpo didn't play because of a knee injury after initially preparing to participate, but Thanasis Antetokounmpo was a key player on the roster.

The Bucks superstar began his Greek national team career as a player for the U20 squad in 2013. He then made his debut on the senior team in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup, helping them to a ninth-place finish. The following year, he helped Greece get to the quarterfinals of EuroBasket 2015 before a tough loss to Spain, the eventual champion. Giannis also participated in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

In terms of Olympic play, the Bucks star suited up for Greece for 2016 Olympic qualifiers, but they failed to qualify. Greece also failed to qualify in 2021, with Giannis not participating because of the deep run to the NBA championship.

While some Bucks fans surely would like to see Giannis Antetokounmpo take next summer off, hopefully after repeating, it would still be neat to see him suit up for Greece again at EuroBasket 2022 and go up against Euro stars like Doncic, Rudy Gobert, Bogdan Bogdanovic and many others.
