Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo’s journey to the NBA has inspired a lot of people all over the world. After starting as a kid who sold anything in the streets of Greece just so he and his family can have something to eat, he is now one of the most recognized athletes on the planet. He recently won the NBA MVP award and his first-ever signature shoe has been released.
Still, the Greek Freak has no plans of slowing down.
Giannis recently had an interview with Slam Online’s Max Resetar, where he said that although he’s happy about all his recent accomplishments, he’s still determined to get better. He doesn’t want to be satisfied with what he has, knowing that he can still do a lot more.
“I’m really, really happy about everything, but at the end of the day I can’t stay in the moment that much because I try to stay as humble as I can and hungry, and usually when you stick around the moment, that makes you feel comfortable and I don’t want to be comfortable. Feeling uncomfortable is a good thing. When you’re out of your comfort zone, then you get better. You improve, you learn.
So I’m excited about the MVP, I’m excited about this shoe right here, I’ve waited 18 months for this shoe to be released, and it’s been a long journey, but at the end of the day, we have to keep getting better, on the court and off the court so more stuff like this can follow.”
Antetokounmpo and the Bucks are coming off a disappointing 2018-19 season where they lost to the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference Finals despite having the best win-loss record in the league and homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs. Milwaukee has decided to bring the team’s core back for another title run, and this time, Giannis wants to make sure that he gets the job done.
With the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors obviously weakened by the players they lost in last month’s free agency, the league is now open for a new team to create a dynasty. With Giannis leading the way, the Bucks could just become the next NBA powerhouse.
