The Milwaukee Bucks are off to a ho-hum incredible start with more than half of the 2019-20 season in the books already.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and company defeated the Charlotte Hornets in Paris, France, on Friday evening. They improved their record to 40-6. The Bucks are only the seventh team in NBA history to win 40 of their first 46 games. And the company they keep have all been championship contenders.

The last team to start 40-6 or better were the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors. The 2015-16 Warriors would finish with a record-setting 73-9 regular-season record. However, infamously, Stephen Curry and the Warriors would lose in the 2016 NBA Finals to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Eastern Conference club overcame a 3-1 deficit to earn the franchise history's first Larry O'Brien trophy.

Every other team wound up winning that year's title, though. It gives the Bucks hope that they can overcome their own championship drought. The last time Milwaukee won the Finals was their single title in 1971 under Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The Bucks' last Finals appearance was in 1974.

Antetokounmpo, the NBA's reigning MVP on pace for another historic regular-season performance, is on a mission to erase last year's disappointment. The Bucks were eliminated to the eventual-champion Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference Finals after going up 2-0. The Raptors, without Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard, are still a threat in the east, however, while trailing behind Milwaukee by eight games for the top seed.

Giannis scored 30 points along with collecting 16 rebounds and dishing out six assists on semi-home turf on Friday against the Hornets in Paris, playing in his home continent of Europe for the Greek national.
