Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is firmly supporting Sterling Brown in response to the violent arrest his teammate endured in January by Milwaukee police. In an interview with CBS News, the two-time NBA All-Star said, “I'm going to have his back no matter what. What I saw from the video was disturbing.”

The Milwaukee Police Department arrested Brown on Jan. 26 for a parking violation. A video of the controversial arrest showed police officers slamming the NBA player on the ground before using a taser on shock him. Brown has filed an excessive force lawsuit against Milwaukee and the police department.

Antetokounmpo shared his thoughts with CBS News at the 2K Sports' NBA 2K19 launch party. The reigning NBA Most Improved Player is the first international player to grace the cover of the popular video game franchise.

“At the end of the day, I'm always going to have my brother's back. That's all that matters. I had a chance to talk to him and I told him, ‘whatever you need, I'm here,'” Antetokounmpo said. “As a team, we talked about it, we told him, ‘no matter what you believe, that was wrong. We're going to have your back.'”

Brown was a rookie with the Bucks last season after getting selected by the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round and subsequently traded to Milwaukee. He notched 4.0 points and 2.6 rebounds in 54 games last season, and he played briefly in the Bucks' first-round series loss to the Boston Celtics.

Antetokounmpo averaged 25.7 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 6.3 assists last season. The 23-year-old believes that brighter days are ahead for the Bucks, but no matter what happens on the floor, he's going to be there for his teammates.
