Even if Jason Kidd only coached the Milwaukee Bucks for four underwhelming seasons, he seems to have left a lasting impression on superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

As he was welcomed into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame just today, the Greek Freak sent his former coach a heartfelt message through his official Twitter account.

Despite all their trials and tribulations, the Bucks franchise encountered during these last few years, Antetokounmpo has remained a staunch supporter of the 10-time NBA All-Star and former Rookie of the Year. He even reportedly offered to speak directly to upper management when news of his firing broke out.

Kidd, who was an equally crafty and creative point guard, who dazzled fans with his no-look passes and pinpoint assists, surely imparted valuable knowledge to the up-and-coming star about how to affect the game through multiple facets.

We may not know how exactly Kidd affected his young player, but it’s quite obvious that they respect each other a lot. After all, it was during his time at the helm that Giannis experienced his transcendence into NBA stardom.

While he may not have found success as a head coach, Kidd will always be remembered as an unbelievable teammate and player that helped pave the way for new-age, all-around floor generals like Russell Westbrook and Rajon Rondo.

As we celebrate his 19-year career and induction into basketball immortality, as fans we want to congratulate the original Mr. Triple-Double on this incredible milestone in his life!
