Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle had nothing but praise for Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo after the first meeting between the two teams for the 2020-2021 season. Carlisle highlighted the physical tools of Antetokounmpo which he manages to utilize in order to make a great impact on the floor.

“He's really such a unique player. We have not seen a player like him really in the history of the game.”

“You know at 6'10, 6'11, doing the things doing the things he does on a full court basis. Defensively, guarding every position on the floor, et cetera, et cetera.”

“So you know he's just great that's all I can say,” Carlisle said.

The Bucks engaged in a neck-and-neck battle with a Mavericks squad that simply refused to go down.  Luka Doncic led his team with a stellar performance of 28 points, nine rebounds, and 13 assists. Tim Hardaway Jr. also had a huge night with 22 points and six assists.

Meanwhile, the two-time NBA MVP in Antetokounmpo failed to find his rhythm after going 1-of-10 from the charity stripe. Despite his woes, he still led the team in scoring and finished with 31 points and nine rebounds. Clutch baskets from Khris Middleton also lifted the Bucks as he provided an all-around effort of 25 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.

After securing the 112-109 victory, the Bucks improved to a 9-4 record while the Mavericks slipped to a 6-5 tally. Carlisle's post-game statements only speak volumes of Antetokounmpo's overall impact as he continues to vie for his third MVP plum by the end of the regular season. More importantly, the 26-year-old will hope to handle their unfinished business and lead his team to another run in the postseason.

The Bucks will aim to extend their four-game winning streak as they visit the Brooklyn Nets on Jan. 18.
