Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has filed a lawsuit against a designer who produced a line of “Greek Freak” T-shirts, according to a report by TMZ Sports.

According to the lawsuit filed by Antetokounmpo, he said that he sent Jinder Bhogal, the designer who produced the shirts, a cease-and-desist letter, but that Bhogal never responded.

Antetokounmpo made the “Greek Freak” moniker popular because of his phenomenal rise to NBA stardom. Eventually, it became his official commercial trademark, meaning no one is allowed to use it for profit without his approval.

Of course, along with Giannis' ascendance to the top of the world's most prominent basketball league is the responsibility to take care of his image. Antetokounmpo is an advocate of helping the poor and is a member of several charities for the youth, which means that he and his representatives will need to make sure that the “Greek Freak” trademark is solely used by the Greek Freak himself.

As of this writing, Bhogal has yet to make any public or private response to the lawsuit filed by Antetokounmpo.

Giannis, the winner of the 2019 NBA MVP award, is one of the nicest and most humble players in the league. But no one should take this kind personality of his as a way to take advantage of him. He will take the necessary actions against people who maliciously try to make money out of him or his intellectual property, especially without his consent.

If Bhogal settle this with Giannis privately, he might see himself behind bars.
