Since LeBron James has made his arrival in Los Angeles, there have been no shortage or rumors on who could join him. Rumors regarding NBA Stars making their way to play for the legendary Lakers is nothing new, though. With ongoing discussion centering around the possibility of Anthony Davis donning the purple and gold in the near future, there may be another name to keep an eye on.

The latest rumor, courtesy of woelflspressbox.com, cites a report by Alex Kennedy of Hoops Hype that mentioned the possibility of Giannis Antetokounmpo departing for the West Coast. A former GM of the league was quoted, “There’s no way I hell that Giannis Antetokounmpo is staying in Milwaukee for his second deal. I would bet everything that I own that Giannis leaves Milwaukee.” The report also hints at the prospect of Los Angles being the desired destination for a Giannis on the move.

The benefits for Giannis are apparent. In a larger market, Antetokounmpo- who is set to possibly take over as the best player in the league before long- would have a greater opportunity to make money and generate exposure. The Greek Freak has spoken to his loyalty to Milwaukee and his lack of desire to place himself in a bigger market one day. That said, things can always change.

Alongside James Harden, Giannis is in the front of the race for the MVP this season, putting up 26.5 points, 12.6 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 1.3 steals. His Milwaukee Bucks, under new coach Mike Budenholzer, are having their best season since drafting Antetokounmpo. The Bucks currently hold the one seed in the East with a 34-12 record and their winning percentage of 73.9 percent is the best in the league.

It would obviously take a lot for Giannis to want to leave the Bucks, especially considering he is under contract through 2021. However, if it comes time to sign an extension in the summer of 2020 and he feels like he would be best served elsewhere, like Davis right now, we could see him weighing his options.
