The Milwaukee Bucks have acquired center Tyler Zeller from the Brooklyn Nets in return for guard/forward Rashad Vaughn and a future second-round pick, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Bucks' 2018 second-round pick is protected from slots 31 (start of the second round) to 47 (middle of the second round), or Milwaukee will have to send an unprotected second-round pick in 2020. Otherwise, the Phoenix Suns would cash in on that pick, if it doesn't convey in 2018, as a direct result of the conditions of the trade for point guard Eric Bledsoe.

The Nets were looking to send Zeller away and cash in with an added pick, already committed to growing through youth. Vaughn was a deep reserve that the Bucks were already looking to move, and contractually, it made sense to package both to Brooklyn.

While not a major move, this works for both parties, as the Bucks free themselves of further commitment from Vaughn, and the Nets get to do some more pick-stashing prior to the trade deadline. Zeller is likely to be waived in the next few days with the Bucks already having three centers on the roster.

Milwaukee has won six of its last seven games and is now gaining firm momentum, as other teams have started to slip in the Eastern Conference, making it a very tight race between the third and seventh place — sitting comfortably in fifth place, thanks to a tiebreaker with the Indiana Pacers.
