The Milwaukee Bucks have started to trim down their roster ahead of next season. Despite training camp still a few days away, it has been reported that they have waived Bronson Koenig on Thursday, according to their official press release on Bucks.com.

“The Milwaukee Bucks have requested waivers on Bronson Koenig. The undrafted rookie from the University of Wisconsin originally signed a Two-Way contract on July 6.”

The Bucks were intrigued enough after seeing the 22-year-old showcase his skill set during the Summer League, that they signed him to a two-way contract. However, with a crowded backcourt that already features reigning Rookie of the Year Malcolm Brogdon, along with Matthew Dellavedova, Gary Payton III, and Kendall Marshall — not to mention Giannis Antetokounmpo who's very capable of playing point guard, it became an easier decision for the team to let go of Koenig instead.

Once he clears waivers, Bronson Koenig will become a free agent again, and could sign with any team that shows interest in his services. But with most training camp rosters already filled, it appears like he may need to look for job openings elsewhere, and work his way to the NBA from there.

He showed in the NCAA and in the Summer League that he is a talented player, and he may just need to gain more experience and additional workouts to help his game improve further to get noticed by scouts from the NBA in the future.
