Sidney Moncrief, a five-time All-Star, five-time All-NBA member and five-time All-Defensive team member, has thrown his hat into the ring to debate this season’s NBA MVP race.

Both Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo and Houston Rockets guard James Harden are having historic seasons, and the two players are truly deserving of MVP. Of course, The Greek Freak is more of a two-way force, but Harden is carrying an offense and putting up some of the most absurd numbers the NBA has ever seen.

Moncrief is backing Giannis to win the award though, something that might be related to the fact that he played 10 of his 11 seasons in the NBA with the Bucks.

“Oh, it’s Giannis,” Sidney Moncrief told Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype when asked who among the NBA MVP candidates stand out the most.

“Giannis is the most dominant player and the most unique talent the NBA has seen in a long, long time. Number one: what he can do at his size. Number two: he plays the game the right way. He’s a serious basketball player. He’s not drawing attention to himself. He’s out there, what we call, balling. He can score the basketball, he can play defense, he can rebound, he can grab a board and then go coast-to-coast to make a play. He can do so many things that most players cannot do. In my opinion, he’s head and shoulders above most elite players.”

Can anyone blame Moncrief for backing an historically brilliant performance for the team he is most well known for? Certainly not! Either way, this MVP debate is going to continue to rage as the season winds down.
