Since the start of the season, Giannis Antetokounmpo has been on fire, and playing at a very high level. His stellar play has given the Milwaukee Bucks a 2-1 record so far, as he currently has astounding averages of 38.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.7 steals per game.
The Greek Freak has also been very efficient from the field, which has allowed him to join very elite company in Shaquille O’Neal and Wilt Chamberlain, as the only players with at least 115 points, on 65 percent shooting in the first three games of the season.
Antetokounmpo’s feat definitely proves that he is one of the best players in the NBA today. As early as now, many are already considering him an early favorite to win the MVP award this season, and turn the Bucks into a serious contender in the Eastern Conference as well. Despite being a young team, they have already made the playoffs last year, and are looking to make a deeper run this time.
It may be a tall order for the 22-year-old to sustain this kind of production throughout the season, but if he can produce numbers close to his current averages, he will definitely give his team’s playoff quest a huge boost. It will be very interesting to find out how far the Bucks can go this year, but with Antetokounmpo leading the way, it’s not hard to imagine that they will once again make a postseason appearance, and even surprise many if they can eliminate some of the favorites in their conference.
