Veteran big man Pau Gasol is planning to sign with the Milwaukee Bucks after reaching a buyout agreement with the San Antonio Spurs, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The Bucks have the best record in the NBA and are now adding one of the smartest players in the game.

The Bucks acquired Nikola Mirotic at the trade deadline from the New Orleans Pelicans and are now adding another former Chicago Bull to the roster in Pau Gasol. Mirotic and Gasol played two seasons together in Chicago.

Gasol, a six-time All-Star and two-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers, gives the Bucks a big man who can score from the post and perimeter. Milwaukee now has three big guys in Gasol, Mirotic and Brook Lopez who can bring their defenders out to the perimeter because of their shooting skills. That will create more driving lanes for superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and guards Eric Bledsoe and Malcolm Brogdon.

With the Spurs this season, Gasol was averaging 4.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 46.6 percent overall and 50.0 percent from beyond the arc. The Bucks have a great chance to win the Eastern Conference this season, and adding Pau Gasol to mix will only help their cause.
