As the former second overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, Jabari Parker has shown his potential through three seasons. Unfortunately, he has suffered two season-ending injuries and has only appeared in 152 out of 246 possible games as a result.

Prior to his latest injury, Parker averaged 20.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 51 games. While the fourth-year forward is not expected to return until February 2018, he is seeking a max contract extension according to Gery Woelfel of Woelfel's Press Box:

With salaries having skyrocketed over the summer, thanks in large measure to an extremely lucrative television contract, multiple sources claim Parker will be seeking a contract similar to the one he expected to receive prior to his latest injury – a max contract of five years for anywhere between $146 million (25 percent of the salary cap) to $175M (30 percent of the cap).

After re-signing Giannis Antetokounmpo to a four-year, $100 million contract extension last year, the Bucks have a difficult decision. While there is no denying Parker's talent when healthy, his injury history has to be a concern at this stage.

With Parker expected to miss the first half of the 2017-18 NBA season, Bucks head coach Jason Kidd and company are still looking to take the next step in their development. As Antetokounmpo has established himself as one of the best players in the league, there is an opportunity in the weakened Eastern Conference.
