While reports have surfaced of Oklahoma City Thunder guard Dennis Schroder being on the move to the Los Angeles Lakers, it appears there was another trade scenario occurring behind the scenes. According to The Ringer's Kevin O'Connor, the Milwaukee Bucks were in pursuit of the gamble for Schroder, but talks ultimately fell through.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Sunday that the Lakers and Thunder had moved into serious talks centered around Schroder, with a deal likely to be finalized on Monday when teams can officially began trading. As it stands, the Lakers will send out Danny Green and the No.28 pick in this year's draft.

Green was heavily thought to be moved in the offseason. He's on the books for $15 million next season, and he didn't provide much of the 3-point marksmanship that the Lakers coveted in 2019 when they went all in on the Green sweepstakes. After turning in some disappointing performances– primarily during the NBA Finals– many spectators assumed that Green would be shipped out, but his price tag made that notion a little more challenging.

The Thunder likely decided to pull the trigger on moving Schroder giving his impending free agent status in the 2021 offseason. The Germany native will definitely command a heavy contract, which the Lakers will have to look into as time progresses. For now, they obtain a shot-creator that can generate plays for the entire team.

The Bucks, meanwhile, have once again struck out on another potential piece that could keep Giannis Antetokounmpo in the fold. The Lakers moved in. The Bucks will continue to try to move Eric Bledsoe's contract, though it has proven to be difficult so far.
